Hello and welcome to a very short (lol, not really) newsletter this week. I don’t have much to recap and no recipe to give out. The original plan was to write a bit of an introductory post. I wanted to give some background as to why I, a 31-year-old Office Manager from Southern California, am telling you how to make traditional Swedish pastries and how to host fabulous parties in your home.
The short answer? Because I moved to Sweden at 22, became Sweden’s first 3-Michelin-star Pastry Chef, promptly burned out, and—through a story with many a twist and turn—landed my Office Manager job at the end of last summer.
When I went to expand on that story, I quite literally started writing a memoir. And that just seemed like too big of a project to write and edit in one Friday afternoon.
So instead, here’s a recap from this past week:
I edited together a little vlog of last week’s Fondue for 6 party for The Short Form Platforms (instagram, tiktok and shorts). I love a good vlog and think they are so fun to edit.
I also posted a lil’ video about how to make the garlic and thyme fondue I made for the party. The recipe is up on my website. If you want all the recipes from the Party Planning Packet, you need to subscribe (which you should definitely do anyway!).
Chocolate, Coffee, and Brown Butter Cake
This week, I also made a pretty little cake for a friend. It was my favorite chocolate cake from Bon Appétit with caramelized cocoa nibs, dark chocolate coffee namelaka, and brown butter Swiss meringue buttercream. It was SO dreamy. I documented both the prep and the decorating, and the recipe will be out next week.
One Taste, One Try – Episode 2
To round out the week, I posted the second episode of One Taste, One Try, a series where I have to recreate a pastry I’m not allowed to see—using just one try.
And that’s it for this week! Next week is all about chocolate, and for paid subscribers, a big packet of chocolatey, delicious recipes is coming your way! (Just in time for Valentine’s Day!) So if you haven’t become a paid subscriber yet, let me help you with that.
Xoxo,
Cecilia—sometimes Office Manager, sometimes Content Creator, always user of too many words
